About Pence Per Hour

Last updated

Pence Per Hour answers one everyday question: what does it actually cost to run this? We cover kettles, heaters, tumble dryers, dehumidifiers and more, with the answer in pence per hour, per day and per year at UK prices.

Who runs it

The site is owned and edited by Rob Falconer and published under The AI Barn. It's independent. We aren't an energy supplier, a comparison site or part of any manufacturer, and nobody pays us to feature a product.

What we do

  • Use Ofgem's current price cap as the default rate, and update it every quarter.
  • Give wattage ranges from named, linked sources, not single made-up numbers.
  • Show the working on every page, so you can check the sums with your own figures.
  • Say plainly what we haven't measured ourselves.

What we're not

We're not regulated financial or energy advisers. Everything here is general information to help you estimate costs. Your real bill depends on your tariff, your appliance and how you use it. For help with energy debt or eligibility for support schemes, contact your supplier, Citizens Advice or GOV.UK.

Advertising

We plan to fund the site with advertising from Google AdSense. Adverts will be clearly separate from our content and will never change our figures. See our privacy policy for how advertising cookies work.
